Jaco Buiter
Specialist
Jaco Buiter is a professional with an extensive experience in the Financial Markets. His career started in 1978 as a Specialist or "hoekman" on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange (AEX). As a member and representative of the association of specialists he participated in many committees. Capital Adequacy, Compliance, IT and Clearing & Settlement are some of them. In 1993 he became deputy director of trading and became responsible for supervision and a `fair and orderly`market on the AEX stock exchange.
Development of supervision tools, initiation and adjustment of trading rules and regulations on the area of market abuse and insider trading were some of his tasks. Jaco played an important role in the migration from floor trading towards fully automated screen trading on the cash market in Amsterdam. Later on, in the role of deputy managing director of the AEX he became responsible for several Clearing & Settlement and Market Surveillance projects.
In 2000 Jaco left the stock exchange and he started a career as an independent professional. In 2001 he used his skills and experience in a Technical Assistance project tot the Baku Stock Exchange, Azerbaijan. Beside this as (co) author and trainer he was involved in several training projects for NIBESVV and the DSI PIT projects, the Periodic Integrity Exams for professionals in the financial markets industry. His specialties are stock trading, ethics and integrity, compliance and rules and regulations.
Nowadays he is member of the dispute resolution committee of KiFID and he works as a trainer on ethics and integrity. Further on Jaco is a member of the board of a pension fund and chairman of the investment committee of this fund.
